Dear Parent/Carer,
The phrase ‘these are unprecedented times’ has never been more appropriate and we are all on new territory
here, trying to make the best out of this situation. My prayers are with all those who are suffering either
directly or indirectly from this virus.
Following the Prime Minister’s statement last night, you will now be aware that St Mary Magdalene’s will
close for a number of pupils at the end of the school day on Friday 20th March. We do not yet know when
we will reopen for all children. We will however remain open, for as long as it is safe to do so, for those of
Key workers and vulnerable children. In Lancashire it has been agreed that “school staff” will be classed as
key workers. In addition to all staff who support health services, social care, delivery drivers and emergency
services.
If you are unsure if you fit into one of these categories, then please contact school as soon as possible.
On Monday 23rd March, St Mary Magdalene’s school will be open for the children of Key workers and
vulnerable children. We will need to identify the staff available and the number children who will be in school
before we can provide further details. There will be a further update tomorrow.
Thank you for your continued cooperation during this difficult period. Please keep yourself and your
family safe and look after our most vulnerable in the community. God Bless
Yours faithfully,
Bridget Parkinson
