Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you are all well, safe and managing these most unusual circumstances. I have been
back in school this week after self-isolating. It was very difficult not to hug the children and
staff and keep the social distancing.
Thank you very much to parents who are keeping their children at home. This lessens the
risks for children, yourselves and the staff. We are continuing to provide Emergency
Provision for over the Easter holidays but this is only for Critical workers and vulnerable
families. I know we have some Critical workers on the front line who are really finding it
difficult and our prayers are with those families.
Children in school have been busy with activities. Today some children have created
pictures for the new Nightingale Hospital in London. We have also been practising our
Gangnam style dancing. Alice calls my dancing “Granny style!” I am hoping to improve the
next few weeks!
We have some sad news this week that Vincenzo Manta, an uncle to Rafaella, Lorenzo
and Domenica in school, has passed away. Please keep this family and others who are
facing sadness at this time in your prayers.
There has been some great feedback from the online Home Learning available on the
School website. https://smmrcburnley.school/
Some children have shown great effort and they will be receiving a Headteacher’s Award
this week. I hope you are all making it easy for your parents to help you with your Home
Learning. They are really trying to help you and it’s difficult for them too! Your parents have
the e mail address of the teachers so we are in communication. We are all in this together
and remember our school values and School Mission statement : “Love One Another.”
Please remember online safety when children are accessing their gadgets. We have had a
very upset parent communicate to us that her child had uploaded some videos that had
been taken some time ago on the school playground with a phone on YouTube. The
account has been closed and the videos removed.
Please keep sending your photos into school. They are being put on the website and the
Class Dojo platform. If you have not joined the Class Dojo platform, please do so. Email
the class teacher and they can help out. Please note that there may be a delay in
responding to emails. Some staff will hopefully be on an Easter break for the next two
weeks and they may also have family commitments or illness that they are dealing with.
There are some really useful resources on the ‘Inclusion’ section under ‘Community’ on the
school website. There are some aids and some advice about how to explain to children
what is happening. Please take a look.
We will be sharing some Easter resources on the School website and the BBC and
YouTube are providing services and Masses over the Easter break as the Churches are
closed.
Watch Matt Lucas Thank you Baked Potato. It is very funny and has a good message. He
is raising funds to feed the NHS and is releasing this record.
Well done to you all for being so resilient. I am very proud of you all. Keep safe.
God Bless,
Bridget Parkinson (Headteacher)
