Vision Statement

Our Vision

Our curriculum is designed with two goals in mind:

1) To give our children opportunities to develop as confident, responsible citizens who endeavour to respect, protect and preserve the natural world and ‘Love one Another’.
2) To provide a coherent, structured academic curriculum that leads the children on a journey through exploration, curiosity, experiences and enthusiasm.

At St Mary Magdalene’s RC Primary, the curriculum is designed to: build on children’s prior learning, provide first hand learning experiences, allow the children to develop interpersonal skills, build resilience and become creative, critical thinkers.

Every child is recognised as a unique individual. We celebrate and welcome differences within our school. We provide enhancement opportunities to engage learning and believe that childhood should be a happy, investigative and enquiring time in their lives where there are no limits to curiosity and there is a thirst for new experiences and knowledge.  We promote positive attitudes to learning, resilience and resourcefulness to support future success.

We aim to inspire and challenge the children through our teaching and high expectations and. We will also engage the children with the Big Questions of purpose and meaning of life, as created and sustained by God, throughout the curriculum. Our Catholic community involvement is an essential part of our curriculum as we come together with others to celebrate religious events, contribute to global awareness and social justice initiatives.

We aim to work with parents so that we can we shall assist them in their responsibility for educating their children, thereby enabling each child to develop his or her full potential as a unique child of God and help our children to grow towards religious maturity enabling them to face the responsibilities and challenges of a Christian life.

Children leave our school with a sense of belonging where they have the confidence and skills to have a go, make decisions, self-evaluate and become lifelong learners.
