Dear everyone
Thank you for all your delightful frog homework this week, Year 2. We have loved looking at it on Class Dojo.
This week, to tie in with our canals theme, we have some homework based on narrowboats. Perhaps you could take a walk along the Leeds & Liverpool Canal to have a look at some narrowboats more closely. If you can, take a photo of the narrowboat and label up the parts of it using the narrowboat parts sheet. Otherwise, draw your own narrowboat and label it.
If you are able to go for a walk to observe narrowboats, have a look at the art work on the outside of the boats, too. You could replicate this and design your own using the common floral and roses theme. Maybe you could put your name in the middle before decorating, just like the decorated name of a narrowboat. Use the narrowboat art sheet to help you. Don’t worry if you cannot go to the canal – you can use Google Images and YouTube to look at some narrowboat art instead. On the Narrowboat Art Sheet, you will find an example of how to start off your art – you could complete the given design or make your own.
Another canals related task for you to have a go at is the canal adventure story sheet. Write your own story with a canal or narrowboat setting. You could use the characters on the sheet for ideas, even if you aren’t able to print them and cut them out. Remember to name your characters and think about how they got to the canal. Do they live there – like in the book Snowy which we have started to read in class? What animals, people and things might they see along the canal?
We look forward to looking at your art, stories and labelled narrowboats on Class Dojo.
