RECEPTION
Welcome to Reception, we are the Butterfly Class it is here where we gain our wings to help us to fly.
OUR CLASS TEACHER
My name is Mrs Worrall and I am the Reception Class Teacher. I have fond memories as a child of being a pupil at St Mary Magdalene’s. I am enthusiastic and passionate about providing a high standard of early years’ education, to ensure all children reach their full potential. In Reception we provide children with the foundations and building blocks necessary for future learning. I believe that play is crucial part in children’s learning as it helps to develop their communication, imagination, curiosity and thinking skills. “Play is the highest form of research” Albert Einstein. 😊

Extracurricular Activities
PE
If children have earrings in on P.E. days they will not be able to take part in P.E. that day.
Children who have earrings in must either; not wear them on P.E. days or be able to take them out themselves. Staff are not allowed to take them out or tape them over. Wearing earrings in P.E. represents a potential hazard not only to the wearer but also to other children. Medical advice confirms that jewellery worn in physical education lessons is an unnecessary risk and should be avoided at all times – a risk we at St Mary Magalene’s are not prepared to take whilst your children are on school premises/in our care. Serious accidents have occurred as a result of contact between pupils wearing earrings or studs and other pupils or equipment, thus damaging the ear, or where items of jewellery have caught in apparatus and torn the ear lobe. Thank you for your support and understanding in this matter.

Dinosaur Land
We had lots of fun creating dinosaur land in our woodland area.
Bug Hotel
We enjoyed collecting lots of sticks, twigs and leaves to build our bug hotel. We can't wait to see which minibeasts come to visit.
A letter from the Queen
When we heard the Queen had COVID, we made her a card to cheer her up and make her feel better. We couldn't believe it, a couple of weeks later we recieved a letter from the Queen's lady-in-waiting to say thank you.
